EAA Chapter 1457 Meeting Minutes
August 8, 2016
The August meeting was held at Richard Slaney’s hangar at the North end of KEUG. It started with a potluck highlighted by John Stahr’s outstanding barbeque skills.
There were 32 members, family members, and guests present. Despite the threatening weather, a few members flew or taxied their aircraft to the meeting. Congrats to Wayne Eckertson for braving rain and wind to fly his Rans S14 over from Daniels Field.
After a great meal of Chicken, salads, and plenty of deserts, Richard gave an overview of the aircraft he has acquired for restoration and enjoyment including Tucanos, Hueys, a Scottish Aviation Bulldog, SiaiMarchetti 1019 and a NZail CT4. What a wealth of knowledge of the varied flying capabilities of these trainer and military aircraft. Thanks to Richard for providing this insight into his passion.
A group photo was taken and will be posted to our webpage.
Steve McGirr gave a recount of his trip to AirVenture 2016 with his son Doug in their RV7. This was a trip of firsts; first attendance at “Meca”, first flight into Oshkosh, and longest cross county trip in their RV. Sounds like a great trip and many thanks went to John and Patty Stahr for being their wingmen enroute.
Bruce Gustafson reminded everyone that our Young Eagle event will be 27 Aug. Current times advertised by airport administration are 1100-1530. Watch your email folder for details.
The Sept meeting will be a potluck BBQ at Daniels Field on 5 Sept, Labor Day, at 5:00pm. Additional details to follow by email.
