EAA Chapter 1457 Meeting Minutes

March 6, 2017

The March 2017 meeting was held at John Stahr’s studio. There was a pre-meeting potluck featuring John’s delicious BBQ pork chops and chicken.

President Ron Parker opened the meeting with 16 members, 7 significant co-pilots and 2 guests present.

Old Business:

The minutes were approved and a reminder given for everyone to pay annual dues ($20) to Ron and he’d pass them along to Treasurer Paul Colvin.

The Chapter welcomed two new members: Marie Jurasavich and Adam Boggs.

Wayne Eckertson is leading the planning for EAA National tour stop of the B-17 Aluminum Overcast. Visit dates are locked as 4-7 May. Location to be near Atlantic Aviation and EAA Chapters 1524 (Lebanon) and 31 (Creswell) will be joining the fun. The three Chapters will work together on planning and providing volunteers and will share in the proceeds.

John Stahr is working on the design for a Chapter T-shirt and another for the B-17 Aluminum Overcast visit in May. The B-17 shirt will be available in safety green or black.

New Business:

Larry Lowenkron is collecting ideas for 2017 Fly-Out locations. Chehalis, Lakeside, Hood River…lot’s of potential places discussed.

Ron introduced a new segment called “Fly the Plane” which will be a short section on flying each meeting. Ray Beverly spoke on the transition to the current FAA (NATO) phonetic alphabet in the 1950s.

It was agreed the August meeting will be the second Monday in Aug at Noble Estates Winery.
