Chapter 1457

Eugene, OR

EAA Chapter 1457 Meeting Minutes

February 1, 2016

President Charlie Walker opened the meeting at 7:00 at the Oregon Air & Space Museum.

There were 18 members and 3 guests in attendance.

Old Business:

Time again to pay annual Chapter dues. $20 to Paul Colvin or Charlie.

Charlie attended a Museum meeting and presented the $1000 donation from the Cahpter. The Museum was thankful and plans to use the money to repair the roof.

New Business:

Wayne Eckertson gave an update on the committee looking at alternate venues which could expand capabilities for presentations and demonstrations at our meetings. They have spoken with Airport Administration and Civil Air Patrol. Future updates once they look at other locations

Charlie is looking for feedback about our Chapter Facebook page.

A tentative speaker for late May is Brain Hupe of the Garmin Team X. Possible date is May 23rd a the the Synergy Air hangar. This could be a joint meeting with other local EAA chapters. Details to follow as we get closer.

The nights guest speaker was Curt Cowley of the Hillsboro FSDO. He leads the FAASTeam, is a lifelong aircraft maintainer, aircraft owner and pilot. His enlightening presentation focused on the change in FAA compliance philosophy toward enforcement actions (now “deviations” from standards) with the release of FAA Order 8000.373. Curt mixed in plenty of personal stories and answered questions which kept everyone entertained.

The February EAA Chapter Video was shown and included segments on the new Youth Protection Program, an A-26 restoration, and the EAA Innovation Contest. The homebuilder hint discussed the parts of control cable terminations.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30.EAA Chapter 1457 Meeting Minutes
