EAA Chapter 1457 Meeting Minutes
July 6, 2016
President Charlie Walker opened the meeting at the Oregon Air & Space Museum.
There were 18 members and 2 guests present.
Dewey Conroy, Chief Operating Officer of Pacific Coast Avionics was the guest speaker. Dewey provided catalogs from PCA and spoke about the varied products and services available from PCA. PCA can do custom panels on their CNC machine, get laser etching instead of the older silk screen methods, and their tech staff provides transponder certifications. Dewey also spoke about ADSB options and provided insightful reviews on some of the products available. Since he’d arrived via his RV-7, a short intermission followed while everyone went outside to drool over his very nice panel (and plane).
Casey Boatnight from the Eugene Airport Administration spoke on the terminal expansion project, the recent FAA hangar rule clarification, and the 20-year plan. The annual 5K of the Runway will be 27 Aug and a side feature is our Young Eagle event. KEUG will have $1.00 off self-serve fuel that day. Bruce Gustafson is contacting other chapters looking for additional pilots, planes, and ground crew. The KEUG tenant BBQ will be 17 Aug from 11-1500.
For those not going to Oshkosh, Larry Lowenkron will arrange another fly-out on 23 Jul to Lakeside (9S3), with alternate of Independence.
Response to query on shirts from last meeting was mixed. Instead of the EAA offered logo shirts discussed at the last meeting, Charlie and John Stahr have ideas on costs and designs available locally to be presented at a future meeting.
The Executive Board will hold a meeting on 20 Jul, 1800 at 5th Street Market food court if anyone is interested.
The next meeting will be 8 Aug at Richard Slaney’s hanger. Pot Luck BBQ will begin at 1800 (6:00 p.m.). Slaney’s hangar is on the North side of the airport on Hollis Ln (off Green Hill Rd) and accessible for those that fly in via Taxiway C.
The Sept meeting will be a potluck BBQ at Daniels Field. Details available at the Aug mtg.
The July EAA Chapter Video was shown then the meeting adjourned.
